Sing, Craft, Connect

Picture yourself in a room of people, all chatting, telling stories, drinking tea, singing folk songs and crafting. Now book yourself a spot and pop Jan 18th in the calendar!

Singing has always gone hand in hand with sitting in groups, and crafting, and although our modern lifestyle has left little space for such ‘idle’ ways of time spending, it continues to be a healthy, regulatory and needed way of being.

More than that, it’s our birthright!

Sitting around with others while socialising indirectly is a birthright. Drinking multiple cups of tea and singing is a birthright. Crafting and being creating is a birthright.

I look forward to hearty laughs, inspiring makes and togetherness in song.

Autism - Dispelling the Myths and Understanding the Culture

Autism - Dispelling the Myths and Understanding the Culture

This two hour seminar will present the overview of autism that any family, educator or service provider who lives or works with autistic people, needs in their life. Heads up - this is all of us!

Through the lens of neurodiversity we know that the human population all have different neurotypes! Autism is a neurotype, and therefore all around us are autistic peers, friends, relatives, colleagues and community members who benefit when we understand their brain and nervous system and what helps them to feel safe in the world.

This seminar will focus on frameworks of understanding so that we can fully move away from the disorder lens and the 'early intervention' narrative. We will cover...

* Basic definitions and concepts that have arisen with the neurodiversity movement - neurodivergence, neuro-affirming, neuro-normativity etc

* Inclusive language and concepts - functioning labels, identity language, spectrum etc

The 80 year time line of the history of autism, including how it was designed to vilify mothers and assimilate children *TRIGGER WARNING FOR THIS SEGMENT**

* Dispelling myths about autism that until recently had been accepted as truth

* What autistic culture looks like and how it relates to relational safety

* How autistic culture can be supported at home, in school and in the work place

Whilst this seminar will focus mainly on autism it will speak to many neuroytpes and is relevant to anyone who identifies as neurodivergent.

Using Melodic Mantra With Children Webinar

Using Melodic Mantra With Children Webinar

Using Melodic Mantra With Children is a one hour webinar + melodic mantra video series.

For years now you’ve been asking for more info on how to use melodic mantra with children, and my reply is always the same - they already know how to do it! It’s just us that needs to learn.

Which, essentially is truth!

But I hear what you’re saying, and so I’ve put together a bunch of hacks, tips and tricks for introducing melodic mantra practice into the life of children and I would love to finally share them with you!

Melodic mantra is a regulatory tool, a very simple and effective way of singing that soothes and empowers, and has many, many different therapeutic benefits.

And given that it is very aligned with childlike ways of singing, this becomes an excellent tool for their wellbeing toolkit.

This webinar and video series is designed for anyone who spends time with children! In homes, in schools, in care, in the therapy room…

Registration includes a 1 hour live webinar, and a series of videos each containing child specific melodic mantras for you to learn and sing with children.

Tickets: $40 or sign up to A Gathering Of Voices for $24 and get access to the webinar FREE!

A Gathering of Voices | Wynyard Tulip Festival

A Gathering of Voices™ is an award winning, non-performance based singing experience.

We don’t rehearse, we don’t practice, we don’t perform and there is no requirement to have any musical experience or to feel confident in a singing situation. As anyone who is part of the AGOV online community will know - there is never any obligation to sing!

Every singer needs listeners, people to hold space for their voice and words to be heard, and that’s an important job all on it’s own.

If you called to be part of this workshop, but aren’t sure if you’re ready to sing in front of others, you are still welcome!

Think of AGOV as more of a therapeutic experience.

A Gathering of Voices™ is a singing group that sings melodic mantras (single phrase affirmations and statements) and song seeds (short songs, or chorus like songs).

There will be no need to learn lyrics or sing in perfect harmonies.

You will be guided by Alli to sing freely and the result and feeling that this brings will allow for deep creative expression, emotional release and will completely fill your cup.

Cost: $40pp

During this 3 hour workshop we will use our voices in raw tone, melody and harmony, experience unscripted singing and have the opportunity to create and share our own songs with the group.

Children over twelve years welcome.

Hosted at The Don, Wynyard. We can't wait to see you, and sing with you!

Calming Today's Anxious Kids - Auckland

Maggie Dent will be joined by two incredible colleagues, child psychiatrist and educator Dr Kaylene Henderson and Allison Davies, who specialises in music and the brain and brings a neurodivergent lens to the presentation.

We've taken this event across Australia to Cairns, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Hobart, Wollongong, Adelaide, Melbourne and Canberra, there have been many parents on socials asking Maggie to bring this seminar to NZ, and so, here we are!

Something really special happens every time we do this conference... parents, ECEs, teachers, and whoever is in the room, tell us that they feel so well-resourced in going home with some tangible strategies to tackle the anxiety that the children they live and work with are feeling. They often also feel reassured to see the things that they are already doing are helpful.

Tending to our selves

Tending To Our Selves is a full-day workshop that creates space for us to tend to the most fragile parts of ourselves in a way that soothes, and reconnect with the parts of ourselves we may have forgotten in a way that rekindles relationship to self. We will remember who we are, and witness each other do the same.

Throughout this workshop we will journey in meditation, experience voice work and group singing, take up physical space, soothe ourselves with lullaby and connect with our inner voices.

By coming together in this ceremonial container we expand our capacity to bear witness to ourselves and each other, in all our humanly truths. We remember who we are in this moment, we love and connect with that version of us and we tend to her needs fully and without shame or intent to ‘fix’.

This workshop will be co-hosted by Allison and Siobhán Delaney.

The Voice as a Portal to Regulation

FREE WEBINAR with JESSICA MAGUIRE

When experiencing fear, your vocal pitch might rise, and you could find yourself speaking more rapidly or feeling compelled to fill any moments of silence. Maybe your mouth becomes dry, and your throat constricts or sounds croaky. Or, maybe your voice becomes flat and monotone.

Expressing yourself might trigger feelings of apprehension, making you feel exposed when asserting yourself or reluctant to draw attention by speaking up. Speaking well requires freedom and balance in the muscles around the larynx and jaw. Ideally, a flexible and free posture also supports your breath.

Your vocalisations can be a portal to accessing what's known as the Social Engagement System of your vagus nerve. This is the state that primes you for communication and connection. You feel calm, connected, and safe. Your voice will have variation in rhythm and pitch, your body will feel comfortable, your breath full and your posture relaxed.

You'll learn:
⭐️ To build confidence and trust in your ability to communicate
⭐️ Improve your personal and professional relationships
⭐️ Learn what state of your nervous system you may be communicating from and the behaviours that can arise from this
⭐️ How to partner with your body to cultivate assertiveness and confidence
⭐️ Learn to speak with freedom rather than rules and restriction

Registrations are required beforehand and you’ll have access to stream the webinar for 28 days following this event.

Vocal Odyssey: Meeting with the Spirit of your Voice

Alli will be guest speaking at this incredible online workshop hosted by Nessi Gomes. Please note, times shown here are in GMT.

This two-day online workshop is an invitation to sing, sound, voice, play, explore, reclaim and awaken all the different aspects of our vocal expression so that we can reconnect to our inner emotional landscape of feelings that may have been silenced and buried for too long.

When we discover that singing can provide a safe container to release the repressed aspects of our voice and soul, the power, healing and vitality which is expressed can be truly profound and transformational.

This journey will be recorded and delivered to you soon after the weekend has been completed. This means you will all be able to revisit and practice in your own time. The platform that we will use throughout the workshop is Zoom.
